Meet Jill

Jill is a Registered Speech and Language Therapist with thirty years experience of working with children and adults with an Autistic Spectrum Condition. She has developed Speech and Language Therapy Services within two independent care providers for people with Autistic Spectrum Conditions. She has also worked in residential, low secure and hospital settings with people across the spectrum ranging from those with severe learning disability and challenging behaviour to those who are cognitively very able but severely disabled by their autism.

Her work with children has been in educational, home and residential care settings, both with multi disciplinary teams, parents and support staff.

She possesses considerable experience in the administration and interpretation of a broad range of assessments, including language assessments covering comprehension, expressive language and high level language skills, higher executive functioning and specific Learning Disability. Jill is trained and licensed to use gold standard autism diagnostic assessments; Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised and Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule-2.

She provides Diagnostic Assessments for Community Mental Health and Learning Disability Teams across the U.K. She has a particular interest and expertise in the implementation of augmented communication with people with Autistic Spectrum Conditions and has been instrumental in adapting intervention packages for use with adults with Autism.

Jill has been involved in the multi disciplinary development and delivery of the Sex Offender Treatment Services Collaborative - Intellectual Disability (SOTSEC-ID), in particular with adults on the Autistic Spectrum who are in danger of sexually offending. In addition, she has considerable experience of diagnosis, assessment and treatment of people with Autism who have offended or who are in prison.

Jill regularly delivers training to other professionals, family members and peers.
